About
What is Alpha for Seniors?
Alpha for Seniors is Alpha tailored to the older generation, with courses run in churches, people's homes, sheltered accommodation and residential care homes. It follows the same format as the Alpha course, giving seniors an opportunity to explore the meaning of life in a friendly and non-threatening atmosphere. No question is too big or too small and everybody is welcome.
The talks are 20-25 minutes in length and are often given live. Separate Alpha for Seniors resources are available, including large print Why Jesus? booklets, guest and leaders' manuals.
Muriel (92) had been to church most of her life and when she was invited to join an Alpha for Seniors course she felt that she did not need to. However she was encouraged to come on the course by her friend as it was run in the morning and she had nothing to lose. Muriel was bowled over by the warmth of the welcome and she loved the talks and discussions and learning about Jesus and the Holy Spirit. Where she used to sit in church and find the sermons boring, she now loves to hear about the Bible. Muriel recommends that everyone should give Alpha for Seniors a go.
