Worship
Read about leading worship on Alpha from the Worship Central team.
At the beginning, many people find the worship the most difficult part of Alpha, however by the end it is generally everyone's favourite bit!
Part of the vision for Alpha is to demonstrate what church is like – worship music is an aspect of typical church life. Aim to introduce worship both gradually and sensitively, e.g: a couple of songs for the first few weeks.
A key governing principle of the Alpha course as a whole is the respect for the individual. Don't force anyone to do anything about which they feel uncomfortable.
Rather say, "Please just be yourself, stand or sit, sing or don't sing; do whatever you feel like."
You may find that singing is not something that everyone is comfortable with, especially on courses of 12 people or under, where almost every voice is heard. Think creatively about worship, for example play a CD of a worship song or two or just listen to music.
In small groups the last thing we want is for people to feel uncomfortable, therefore it might be necessary to skip a time of worship.
